fleet owner would take delivery of 25 new cabs and expect them
to go to work without any problems. Our computer system is about
the same commitment financially but far more complex than any
cab. Many of our members and their jouneyman have had
considerable trouble with the new printout. The first problem
was with the commission being included with the amount that was
changed. Second, they were not in date order. These points have
been corrected. As each day goes by the alterations are being made and I hope that by the time you read this, all the teething troubles will have been solved. The numbers of lost and query forms being put in are far more numerous that ever before. Searching lost dockets and queries is a long and tedious exercise, not made any easier by drivers not telling admin that they have received payment in their next batch. Sixty per cent of all lost dockets are found to have already been paid to drivers. If you still have a lost docket form lodged in the admin and you |
receive
payments for it in your next printout, you must cancel it.
Otherwise poor Glen will go wading through a lengthy process,
only to find you are one of the 60%. It may seem very strange to
you for a treasurer to ask you to cancel your standing order to
us for subscriptions, but I am. Apart from a few minor problems
the computer is working perfectly and can do in seconds work
that can take hours manually. If it didn’t there would be no
point in having it. The more that is put in manually, the
greater the number of mistakes. Don’t get me wrong, our staff is
first class. But to all of us this is
something completely new. If your credits cover the fees to the
society, then let the computer do it for you and us. It saves
time in checking bank statements, then the punching in of your
payments to your own account will save money spent by you for
bank charges. We have the most up-to-date equipment, let us take
full advantage of it.
