Bob Woddford to run Across Sahara Desert
Bob Woodford (left) together with Paul
Bishop. Bob is running on memory of Paul and benefit the Motor
Neurone Charity
Bob Woodford (P49), was one of the four DaC drivers
including the late Paul Bishop, who ran marathons in aid of the
baby life support charity, BLISS. Following the death from Motor
Neurone disease of his close friend Paul, Bob will be running
across the Sahara Desert in April 2000 to try and raise funds to
help fight this awful disease.
Bob is running as a tribute to Paul and is looking for both
corporate and individual sponsorship. Call Sign will be happy to
help. He needs £2075 expenses and then everything else goes to
the fund. Anyone wishing to help can send a cheque made out to
Call Sign magazine. Put your name, address and call sign on the
back and we'll see what DaC drivers can come up with.
Those who have already sent cheques to Call Sign.
they have been received but not yet acknowledged or paid into
the bank. A suitable account is yet to be found.
If you wish to help Bob by donating something,
please send the cheque - made payable to Call Sign - and write
your name and address on the back and put Motor Neurone in
brackets.
More details of Bob's plan soon... |

PANAYIOTIS GEORGE PAVLOPOULOS
Call Sign is sad to report the death of a client
who many drivers have described to us as "a real
gentleman." Panayiotis George Pavlopoulos had an account with
Dial-a-Cab for many years and was one of those clients who you
just knew would never say anything to upset the driver. He was
always ready for a quick chat and God help anyone that said
anything nasty about Dial-a-Cab or London's taxi fleet!
Born in Greece in 1920, the former banker had lived
at North Gate, Prince Albert Road for many years and sadly died at
that address from heart failure in August at the age of 79.
Call Sign thanks Mr Pavlopoulos's sisters, Eleni and
Maria, for keeping Dial-a-Cab informed.
In their letter, they spoke of the "special bond"
between their brother and some of our drivers.
If there are taxis in the next world, then Panayiotis has already
opened an account...
