Following completion of the ground floor refurbishment at Brunswick House which
included a new Members Reception, Main Reception, two canteens and a multi-purpose
Training Centre, the next stage of development was to concentrate on the Call Centre.
A complete refurbishment was agreed by the Board and, as the person
responsible for designing the ground floor, I was offered the project. My main task during
the initial planning was making allowances for the fact that we are a 24 hour business and
that involves the necessity to build around a working environment. As difficult as it was
to do, it was achieved and I have to say considerable thanks from myself and the
rest of the Board to our staff for their patience and understanding.
The primary areas of my plan was to make the Call Centre practical,
environmental friendly and able to accommodate additional personnel. To achieve this, I
re-designed the work stations and re-styled the lay out linear style as opposed to the
previous circular style, including placing the controllers in a self-contained unit
separated by glass.
