Media Watch

Dial-a-Cab usually appear somewhere in the media each month. It seems that the world’s press, glossies and multi media organisations now look at Dial-a-Cab as the representatives of the London Cab trade.
If you see mention of DaC in the press - local or national - send a copy to Call Sign and it could be included in Media Watch…

City Receptionist Award

Dial-a-Cab received TV coverage from The Big Breakfast on Channel 4. The programme’s presenter, Denise Van Outen, interviewed the winner of The Times Dial-a-Cab City Receptionist of the Year Award, Lorna Ewin.
She asked Lorna what skills a good receptionist should possess and how she won her award. Lorna briefly described the short-listing and judging of the competition, and mentioned Dial-a-Cab and The Times as the official award sponsors.
The award was also featured on Talk Radio. Presenter Paul Ross interviewed Lorna on air, again asking what skills a receptionist should have and how the competition was won. Lorna managed to mention Dial-a-Cab a couple of times during the broadcast.

Lifeline Renewed

Dial-a-Cab’s long-standing contract with Westminster Council has been renewed, reported local London papers, Marylebone & Paddington Mercury and Westminster & Pimlico News.
For the past nine years, Dial-a-Cab has provided a lifeline taxi service for elderly and disabled passengers and has now been awarded the contract for a further five years.

Smoke-Free Zones

Brunswick House is a smoke-free zone with the exception of one of the two staff canteens where puffing is allowed. No prizes are offered for guessing which of the two canteens allow weed participation - but take a look at the difference in the colour of the walls. Both started out the same pastel shade but the smoking room wall now has a definite shade of brown added to it!
Dial-a-Cab employ 138 people including the BoM, although how many of those smoke is not known. What we do know is that staff and Board members are always trying to give up the weed. The hard part is sticking to it and we appreciate that it isn’t easy. But neither is it impossible!
So to try and assist, Call Sign will be happy to publish the name of any member of the DaC staff or BoM who is trying desperately hard to give up smoking. We are working on the assumption that if everyone knows, you will find it harder to go back. You will also be able to sit in the smoke-free canteen!
So if you know of any Brunswick House ex-smokers who you would like to ‘out’, or if you are brave enough to volunteer  yourself, send the name to Call Sign and we will put it in our
