Anyone seen the Editor recently? He’s looking a bit drawn, if you ask me. Perhaps it’s time for him to step down and allow me to take over. Then we can have some REAL fun! But meanwhile I still have column to run, so onwards and upwards…

The Best Arnold I Have Ever Seen

I had a deja-vu experience recently while bumping into former board member Arnold Ritter. Arnold is with Com Cab nowadays. He was on the DaC BoM at the time that we introduced our first (and rather ugly, looking back!) door logos. I remember it well: Arnold used to tell anyone who would listen that Dial-a-Cab were the best radio circuit in the world.
Then he left for (the late) Metrocab circuit. He had then found heaven. I saw him sometime afterwards and he told me with the utmost feeling that Metrocab were "…the best circuit I have ever been on."
I missed seeing him for some time but when we did meet up again, he was on Mountview.
"A different world" he told me, "Mountview are far and away the best circuit I have ever been on!"
I didn’t see him for a couple of years after that but when I did, he was carrying the Datacab logo.
"Hi Al," he called out, "I’ve struck gold at last. Datacab are without doubt the best circuit I have ever been on!"

In fact, had he been able to find any work, he would have stayed there but when I bumped into him recently outside Gateways (the best supermarket he had ever shopped in!) he told me to my absolute astonishment - well to my surprise - ok so I wasn’t at all surprised but I have to fill the page somehow - that he was now on Com Cab.
"I should have gone to Com Cab first" he told me, "It’s easily the best circuit I’ve ever been on!"
"So" I said, "when are you coming back to Dial-a-Cab" I asked.
"Do you think they’ll have me?" enquired Arnold, "after all, they were the first best circuit that I had ever been on…"
Arnold tells me that he is thinking of emigrating to Australia soon (the best country he has ever been to!) and to join up again with his family.
Good luck, sport. There are probably

some of the best circuits you have ever been on over there…

What Gazza Gates Won’t Tell You

Old Gary "Gazza" Gates only tells you what he wants you to hear about the Call Centre. For the REAL news, look no further!
I hear that ructions have been emanating from the Call Centre since the January Call Sign when Joe Brazil revealed that the lovely Emma "where’s my mobile" Chandler wanted to see naked men parading their charms in this mag!
And even worse, some of the lovely ladies of the Brunswick House 4th floor had expressed an interest in posing with some of their kit off when they heard the figure of £15 mentioned. Unfortunately, they seemed to have been under the impression that the magazine paid THEM! According to my information, it is THEY who are expected to pay the Editor for giving them their first modelling break!
I also hear that one of the Control Room ladies has demanded an apology after reading Joe Brazil’s Mailshot letter explaining how someone in the Call Centre didn’t understand a simple question. Apparently, the Editor assumed somewhere that the person concerned was female but he turned out to be male. I suppose the law of averages says that it had to be a male eventually. I bet he can’t drive properly either…

See you soon.
