Dial-a-Cab usually appear somewhere in the media each month. It seems that the world's press, glossies and multi-media organisations now look at Dial-a-Cab as the representatives of the London Cab trade.
If you see mention of DaC in the press or TV - local or national level - let Call Sign know and it could be included in Media Watch...

Cartoon Capers

Dial-a-Cab recently featured in London's evening paper, the Evening Standard, once again with a cartoon depicting frustrated tube-travellers waiting on the platform. Drawn on the platform wall is an advert for Dial-a-Cab, with a London Underground logo and the following words underneath, "Is it driving you round the bend? Then try Dial-a-Cab." Naturally, it then gives our booking-line phone number!

Gary Gates

Gary Gates, an Assistant Systems Supervisor at Brunswick House, also starred in an Evening

Standard article this month which not only took a half page, but which also had two full colour pics of Gary studying his lunch after agreeing to take part in some dietary research. Gary, who drives a cab in addition to working at BH, is trying to win a trip to New York in return for beating other overweight people in a weight loss competition. The heading of the article: Flabby Cabbies are Meat and Drink to Scientists was hardly flattering, but as Gary told Call Sign:
"They can say what they like if they let me win the trip...!"

Caught on Camera!

Brian Rice, Aubrey Siteman and Allen Togwell appeared in Taxi Globe, photographed on-board the HQS Wellington at the Posh Nosh and Drinks charity evening, which helped raise money to take seriously ill children and their carers to Disneyland. They certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves but as the cause is a good one, we'll allow them their bit of nosh!

Call Sign Competition to
Celebrate the New Football Season

Can you believe that it is already August and the football season is once again back! So for those to whom the season represents more that just a game, Call Sign is giving drivers and staff the chance to win three pieces of unusual memorabilia.

The three prizes are as follows:

  1. An original Arsenal pennant from their 'double' winning season in 1997 with genuine autographs by the team members written on it. Unobtainable anywhere else...
  1. A Spurs team pennant from last year with the players autographs imprinted on top. You cannot buy this in any shop - Spurs or otherwise - it can only be presented to you...
  2. A full-colour 10 x 8 picture in a cardboard frame with original autographs of West Ham United. A must for 'Hammers' fans...

Just print your name, call sign and telephone number (or staff position if you work at BH) on a post card or sealed envelope. Send it to Call Sign at the usual BH address or drop it into the Driver's Reception.
If you are family of someone at DaC and want to enter, give the usual details and say who your relative is.

If you are only interested in one item, mention it on your entry. If it has gone, we won't bother notifying you. Otherwise the first three names pulled out will get a choice of what is left.
Good luck...
