I thought that I would take
this opportunity to answer a question sent in by Anna Constantinou who
points out a possible irritating problem for many users involving multiple
ISP accounts. Quite obviously, there are a lot of people taking advantage
of these new free Internet Service Providers by obtaining their CDs and
installing the software on their PCs, these PCs I assume, would already
possess an active Internet connection. The worry what effect would the new installation have on your existing account? I personally would be extremely cautious and if possible, ask the assistant where you got the CD from if it replaces/overwrites your existing account, or read the readme.txt file or any associated documentation to find out. Otherwise you could possibly end up extremely sorry that you didn't. . Reader's Complaints Recent readers letters in Internet related magazines have seen an
increase of complaints concerning some free ISP CDs which have replaced
the user's old Internet connection. These free CDs (which in some cases
you have to pay a nominal fee for which is then donated to charity)
include a new Browser upgrade, usually Microsoft Internet Explorer 5. |
you could pay a fixed £10 per Month fee, especially when you had to use
their proprietary Browsers and Email clients. But times are certainly
changing, if you are on AOL or CompuServe, go on, take the plunge! Back up
your data and try the freebies.
Gangster Site Recently on the taxicab discussion list, someone mentioned the
gangsters of London in the sixties, and quite coincidentally I was
forwarded this URL, http://www.madfrankiefraser.co.uk
On this site, the infamous Mad Frankie Fraser is attempting to get
£200,000 funding for a film of his life. Clapoztrap Here's an email I received from a fellow 'English speaking' Aussie -
see if you can decipher it! C Ya next month... |
