Call Sign: Can you give us a brief history of yourself?
Brenda Rice: I was born and lived in Morden, Surrey with my parents four sisters and two brothers, until Brian and I got married in 1975. We lived in Greenford, Middlesex until 1988 when we moved to Yateley in Hampshire, where we live now.
I work for a company called ADP who process used Airline tickets - a type of clearing house with Customer Services being one of my many titles. I enjoy my job and find it very challenging.
CS: Who do your children take after?
BR: We have two children Billy(20) and Carla (18). Billy is at Brunel University whilst Carla has just finished her A levels. Anyone that knows Carla will know that she is a real Daddies girl. Brian always refers to her as his baby, I think some of the staff at Brunswick House were shocked when they saw her as they really had believed that she was a baby! Over the years Brian has had an effect on them as they are both season ticket holders at QPR.
CS: What makes you smile?
BR: I do have a good sense of humour and I like people that make me laugh. Brian is one of those people, even after 23years of marriage he still makes me laugh.
CS: Do you have any hobbies?

This issue's 'Talking To' presents our second female subject; The DAC Chairman's Wife, Brenda...

Talking

BR: I don’t seem to have much time for hobbies these days, I used to play netball, but the team disbanded 2yrs ago and I have not played since. Brian keeps fit by going for long brisk walks, we also go for bicycle rides, but he goes too fast for me and I have trouble keeping up with him.
CS: When did you first meet Brian and do you remember your first thoughts about him?
BR: I first met Brian in a club in Wimbledon called Tiffany’s and my first thoughts about him were not very nice! He always had an audience of women around him hanging on to his every word. I think I said to my friends, ‘Don’t talk to that flash blonde Adonis over there, he really fancies himself’ but it wasn’t long before I fell under his spell!
CS: How would you describe Brian to someone who didn't know him?
BR: How to describe Brian? He is an extremely confident person and fills others around him with confidence, he is very hardworking, firm - but very fair. He is also a very kind and caring person but not the sort you should rub up the wrong way!

Brenda when she first met Brian!

CS: Brian went from a full time cab driver to the Chairman of a multi-million pound company. Did it change your life at all?
BR: When Brian became Chairman, life seemed to change. When he does a job he does it to the best of his ability and gives it his all. So for a while I was calling myself the DAC widow as I hardly ever saw him. Things are either much better now or else I have just got used to it.
