Whatever the reason, there were only 30 plus members at your Credit Union
AGM. We currently have over 500 members investing over £700,000. Of that, £600,000 is
out on loan. Yes, 600 Grand! Yet very few of you seem bothered enough to turn up at your
AGM to ask questions. Apart from writing in, what other opportunities are there for you to
keep track of how the Credit Union is being managed? I will take it as a compliment that
your silence means you are happy for us to continue to do our best for you in the future
as we have in the past.
NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS
You may remember that at the AGM Trevor Clarke stood down from the Board of
Directors (no, that’s not the good news) having put in 10 years hard work towards the
running of the Credit Union. Coupled to that, his wife, Jeanette also retired after having
‘done the books’ – sorry, I should say carried out our book-keeping for a
similar period of time!
To show our appreciation for their dedication and hard work over the years,
on your behalf I presented Trevor with a clock to remind him of the time spent at the CU
and Maggie Brynjolfsson presented Jeanette with a |
bunch of flowers.
('Er indoors has just walked past while I’m typing this article and said that should
have read; "a nice bouquet of flowers"!).
I once again take this opportunity to thank them both for the tremendous
amount of work they have both contributed to the Credit Union over the years.
Attending the AGM was one committee member who had been with the Credit Union
from day one. All of you who have been connected with the Credit Union over the years will
know to whom I am referring. It is, of course, ‘BIG ROY’ (Roy Taylor - Lima 84).
If Roy was on commission for the total amount of loans - aka as bugsy’s - he has
signed for over the years, he could retire tomorrow and probably would! For the one or two
of you who didn’t know, Roy has been the Chairman of the Loans Committee the whole
time we have been in business. Like Trevor, Roy had also decided to call it a day. To show
Roy our appreciation, I presented him with a golfing print It might not remind him of the
time spent at Loans Committee meetings, having given up numerous "airports" to
be there, but it may give him some ideas for the future! Our heartfelt thanks to him,
also. |
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
As the number of nominees for election to the Board, Supervisory and Loans
Committee did not exceed the number of vacancies to be filled, a motion to dispense with
the election procedure was proposed and carried and, as Chairman of the meeting, I
declared all nominees duly elected. The Board and Committees are now as follows:

Overall, the evening went well and it was nice to see some of the old faces. However,
