Pat comes with a good background knowledge of credit unions and is already teaching us a thing or two! Apart from running the office, I hope that she will be our representative at conferences etc when other Directors/Committee members or I may not be able to attend. The first of such events is a conference to be held middle of June in
Manchester, for all the big credit unions ie those with or
about a £1million or plus in assets. Such meetings will be vital as we move nearer to the
day when we share the same regulator as the other members of the financial services
industry, namely The Financial Services Authority.
While introducing
new faces, Dave Jefferies (K 37) has been co-opted onto the Supervisory Committee. David
joins Helen Corkery and Tom Whitbread. I hope he finds the work interesting and rewarding
– are you sure?
June saw another (or have there been yet more) increase in interest rates.
What with that and tax to be paid at the end of this month are you keeping up with your
Credit Union savings? Fortunately there is plenty of credit work about at the moment, so
could this be the time to put a few bob away? Remember, there is no permanently better way
of borrowing than through the Dial-a-Cab Credit Union.
