CALL CENTRE CHAT

Busy Christmas
We have just come through the busiest Christmas period for a least five years and on behalf of the Call Centre staff, I would like to thank you all for going that extra mile to give a really good service.
When you are doing all you can, then pressure is taken away from the Call Centre as it allows staff to answer requests for taxis, rather than having to deal with query telephone calls. Put simply, it means more trips for you all to handle.
I know we started comparatively slowly in November, but when the Chairman sent out a message asking for you all to get stuck in, your response was just excellent.  We hear on the grapevine that while our competitors have been handling extra work, their levels have not reached anything like ours. So, well done to everyone and let’s hope it continues into next year as well.
By now, the Christmas incentive is on the verge of being ready for the big draw. I wish every driver who is in with a chance, the very best of luck and I would really like to see the individual’s face when they are informed that they have won a brand new ‘Gold’ taxi!

And signals…
Signals are still the bone of contention for all of us. Allan Evans wrote last month that we are leaving no stone unturned to improve them and I would like to reiterate this.
While we do not have the perfect cure - and oh how I wish that we did - we are following the expert’s advice and moving the location of certain base stations which hopefully - and I repeat hopefully - will enable us to spread the load which in turn will help to improve the packets of data going backwards and forwards.
Transferring base stations requires us to obtain new licenses, in addition to working with BT and Motorola to link up to their engineers when they dismantle and refit the base station equipment. Our communication controllers  here at Brunswick House are also

being serviced again and having components replaced, but to do this requires that the channels be taken down one by one, thus causing increase loading onto the other channels, which again relates to more problems.
We have also ordered new telephone lines from BT to be installed between here and the sites, hoping this will help. Signals are top priority within Brunswick House and we are doing all we can to improve things. All of us are very mindful of all of your frustrations and we will not stop until we achieve an almost perfect solution.

AGM
With the number of rule changes and propositions that have been presented for the AGM, I can see the day being a very lengthy one.  Those of you choosing to attend may want to consider bringing a packed lunch and drink with you.

And lastly…
As we leave 2005 and head towards 2006, may I wish you all the very happiest and healthiest of New Years…

WHERE CAN YOU GET THE UBIEE POWERPILL?

As well as the Royal Oak and Mark outside Paddington Station now selling the Ubiee PowerPill, you can also purchase it at Cab Fever, just inside the canteen at the Heathrow Feeder Park. Cab Fever, run by Illyas, sells all kinds of useful spares for drivers - from receipt pads to map torches and brake fluid to chamois leathers, so it was an obvious choice to sell the PowerPill. Illyas tested the PowerPill on his own van before selling it to his customers. "Within just a few miles of using the PowerPill in my van, I noticed the increase in power and the quietness and smoothness of the engine - I look forward to the fuel savings over the next few days and weeks. This is a definite winner for drivers everywhere!"

The PowerPill treats the fuel and doesn’t affect the engine. A good example of that is one of Call Sign’s original tester of the pill. Roger Gershfield’s (P37) drives a P-reg Fairway and lowered his emissions to 0.95, which is the equivalent of a showroom taxi and was also getting an extra 30 miles to
each tank of diesel. He ran out of pills a while ago and has been driving around without them. Soon after, his mpg had

decreased back to what it was before.
The PowerPill is available from Mark, the Royal Oak and Cab Fever (Heathrow) at the same cost as through the internet - £23, with the option for drivers to buy 10 packs at the reduced cost of £21 per pack, so it could be worth clubbing together to save even more.
You can also still order the Ubiee Powerpill via telephone on 0845 095 5514, via their website on www.powerpilluk.com or by post from Ubiee Powerpill, 11 York Way, Welwyn, Hertfordshire, AL6 9LB.
