Alissa, the
daughter of Dial-a-Cab driver Alf Cook (A62), is once again
running in the Flora London Marathon in aid of the Micro
Anapthalmic Children’s Society (MACS). Micro-anapthalmia and anapthalmia are rare conditions that affect a minority of children from birth and occur due to a failure of the early eye development causing ‘absent eye’ (anaphthalmia) or ‘small eye’ (microphthalmia). The cause of the condition is thought to be predominantly genetic, but research suggests that in some cases exposure to toxins such as pesticides early in pregnancy can be responsible. MACS is an entirely voluntary charity carrying out fantastic work in lobbying for increased research into the causes of MACS, raising awareness of this rare condition and organising events and meetings to bring families affected by the condition, together. UroGolf Championships ready to go! Call Sign’s two golfers are ready to show their mettle in the new UroGolf Super 12 Championships on 21 April at Europe’s premier golf course, the world famous DeVere Belfry golf club. Differently to most other golf competitions, this one is for those with a handicap of 12 or over. DaC drivers Dave Spencer (V89) and Ray Scott (T34) phoned Call Sign following details in the February issue and as the first two to call, will now represent this magazine hopefully right through to the November finals in Portugal! Call Sign has sponsored their entry and will also pay for their flights to The Algarve should they be successful in getting through. UroGolf already assures luxury |

Only two from The Belfry will qualify and
golfers from all over the country will be
playing at their local courses to try and get
into those first two places. Then if we’re lucky
enough, it’s off to Portugal!" Dave and Ray will be going down a day early to get in some practice at The Belfry. "It is undoubtedly an excellent course," Ray continued, "and we’ll give it our best shot!" Ray Scott was part of Call Sign’s winning team at the Dial-a-Cab Open Championship and so has experience of winning. Hopefully that will continue! Good luck to them both.
