NOW THE "ALL NATIONS" ANSWERS BACK! |
||
RTG Executive First chauffeur drivers and
the cab shelter… Last month’s Call Sign ran a story that had been related to us by several drivers regarding a Radio Taxi Group cab-driver/chauffeur who had "parked" his Executive First Mercedes on the "All Nations" cab shelter rank while he stopped at the popular taxi eatery. The story told how even a passing traffic warden looked confused that a car should be parked in an exclusively taxi parking bay! In a quest to find the truth behind the allegation, we sent a reporter to investigate and sample the delights of shelter-keeper Tracy’s culinary skills at the same time… all in the interests of journalistic accuracy, of course! "The first I knew anything about it was when my partner, Jim Edwards (E76) brought in Call Sign Magazine and asked me what was going on," said Tracy. |
"Nothing like
that has happened here in the year I’ve been
running this shelter during the daytime.
When the Sultan of Brunei pops his head up
to the window for a take-away tea or coffee,
he parks his Merc away from the rank.
I wasn’t very happy when that untrue story
broke, because I’ve worked really hard to
build up a regular clientele and they’re a
really nice bunch of guys and girls." A regular ‘face’ then joined the conversation in between ample mouthfuls of food… "We don’t know anything about this story, or who this fella is," he told us, "we’d soon say if we did!" That was the general view of all those gathered in the cab shelter. But Tracy hadn’t finished yet: "But as you are here, there is one thing I do get fed up with and that is cab drivers who park on the rank but don’t eat here and take up precious space, making it difficult for my loyal regulars to stop. I haven’t phoned the Cab |

just yet, but I’m getting very fed up"
she sighed. |
