DaC’s Leslie Cohen (S98) is
aiming for the stars next month when he participates
in the 26 mile, 2005 ‘Walk the Walk’ breast
cancer charity hike on 18 June. The seventy something – "just call me mature!" - fund-raiser will plod the streets of London with his daughter and daughter-in- law as company, together with fellow money-raisers. "I’ve lost loved ones to cancer, so I’m entering the Playtex Moonwalk to raise awareness and much-needed funds for research," he told Call Sign. "We start at midnight from Marble Arch and continue through the night until we finish. I’m determined to complete the course and have been training many miles each week in preparation," he continued. "DaC Control Room Supervisor and previous Walk the Walk entrant, Pam Gadsden, has been very helpful in giving me advice about the event and offering to find sponsors from within Brunswick House. I’ve also written to Brian Rice requesting permission to put a Sponsor Form in the Drivers Reception and he has given it, so hopefully by the time Call Sign hits the streets, fellow subscribers will know where they can register their support." Leslie ended by telling us: "So far my fund-raising is going well. I’m telling my passengers what I’m doing and they seem happy to chip in. Amazingly, one lady customer gave me £60!" he said proudly. |
