Call
Sign is sad to report the death of former
Dial-a-Cab driver Chris Westbrook (ex-D80) following
a prolonged period of illness. He had parted
company with DaC last year following by-pass
surgery. At that time, Val Gomez from Driver’s
Services visited Chris in hospital after he’d
had stents put into his neck to keep open his
coronary arteries. It appeared that surgery
had been successful.
Sadly,
Chris recently caught pneumonia and passed
away on 19 March. His funeral was on 30 March
and Brian Rice represented DaC along with Val
Gomez and John Riley from the |

DaC Credit Union, for whom
Chris did such a lot of appreciated work
having been on the DACCU Supervisory Committee
for three years. There were also many DaC
drivers present at the funeral.
Former DaC Company
Secretary Trevor Clarke told Call Sign: |
"Chris hadn’t been in the best of
health for several years, but I was shocked
when I heard that he had died. He was the
jovial type who was always the life and soul
of the party. You always knew when Chris was
around! He will be sadly missed."
Chris
had been a cab driver for over thirty years
and on Dial-a-Cab since 1990 when he left
ComCab to join us.
The
condolences of everyone at Call Sign - and
indeed Dial-a-Cab - go to Chris’ wife Carol
and to his sons, Martin and Chris.
Rest in peace Chris… |
