“Who
me? I’ve won a recording session? Wow!”
said a surprised Larry Gold when Call Sign phoned him to
break the good news. “My dad will be delighted and so am
I!” Larry had beaten off some very able entrants after
proud parent-subscribers extolling their offspring’s
virtues, responded to the Call Sign offer of a
professionally made sound recording, giving artists a chance
of a ‘break’ to make it big in the record industry.
Derek Benson is a former
DaC staff member who had to choose between DaC and his
passion for music, particularly R’n’B, Hip-Hop and Rap. DaC
lost out when Derek eventually left to start his own
recording studio ‘Wordplay’ and now works with
some of the top names in those music genres. It was Derek’s
connection with DaC that made the offer of a professionally
produced sound recording a reality, giving that
all-important ‘break’ to a budding artist.

and can be seen playing at
numerous social events appearing as ‘La Gold’.
Call Sign watched as
Derek put Larry and Kimberly
through their paces during the prize-winning recording
session.
“Derek is a
really competent sound engineer. An engineer can make or
break a voice and therefore a record and I would like to
thank him for his efforts and especially Call Sign for
making it all possible,”
said Larry as Kimberly nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile back at the studio and after a few warm-up chords had
been struck, serious recording |
began in earnest as Larry,
later with Kimberly, began laying down
tracks. Derek, who has heard a few ‘croakers’ in his time,
praised Larry’s ‘smoove’ vocals, reminiscent of some of the
great crooners from the past.
Meanwhile, Daddy Sid told Call Sign: “My little boy has a great
voice, do you wanna buy his new CD?”
