Driver of the Year Charity held their annual dinner
and ball and prize giving at Grosvenor Square’s
Marriott Hotel at the end of November with everyone
Call Sign spoke to claiming that it was the best
that the charity had ever put on!
DaC Chairman Brian Rice told Call Sign: "I have to say that this was a really excellent evening with delicious food, a great band and speeches kept to a minimum! The fact that the official Taxi Driver of the Year winner’s presentation was to a Dial-a-Cab driver made the evening even better!"
David Ammar (L75), the Taxi Driver of the Year winner told Call Sign that he was still feeling stunned but elated at having won the event.
"Perhaps there weren’t quite so many entries," said David, "but the title still carries an enormous amount of prestige."
Chairman of the Charity, Russell Poluck (T25) told Call Sign: "We are delighted that so
|many had a good time and we’d like to thank all those who continually support the Taxi Driver of the Year Charity which in turn supports the trade charities. We raised the excellent sum of almost £2800 on the night. I’d like to thank through Call Sign, Dial-a-Cab||who sponsored the excellent band – just as they do every year, Westminster Insurance who sponsored the printing, the Royal Oak who paid for the ladies gifts and the brother-in-law of Dial-a-Cab driver Andy Daniels (A02) who very generously sent a cheque to cover the cost of the cabaret."|
