DAC NOW "SLIMMER AND FITTER!"

No, those aren’t the words of Chairman Brian Rice, but a steely determination by some subscribers and members of staff to trim down to their ideal bodyweight. It started some time ago when Call Sign publicised one of our staff members drastic shedding of weight after going on the ‘LighterLife’ diet. Reading about it in Call Sign when we announced that he had shed 13 stones of fat, others in Brunswick House then followed suit and soon drivers were joining in!
  
The ‘LighterLife’ diet is a regime of vitamins and nutrients that the human body needs to function. It comes in handy sachets and is taken with huge daily quantities of fluid. In fact a minimum of around 4 litres of water a day, every day, is recommended - although 8 litres is ideal! There are also regular group counselling sessions to ensure the weight stays off, while offering moral support for those about to waver…
   The Call Centre’s Daniel Smith, a previously rotund 28stone, was down to 16st
10lbs - an amazing loss of
11stone and still dropping to his target of around 13stone!
   "I’ve been on the diet since late May. I feel fine with more energy than before and feel a great sense of achievement," he told Call Sign. "I attend weekly counselling sessions with a small group of others and fortnightly reviews to keep focussed. There are no drugs involved and when I reach my target weight, I will be in Maintenance, which means I can keep to my chosen weight."
   Then downstairs to Nuala Glavin in Driver Services. Looking stunning, she told us: "I’ve lost 3stone since I started in September and need just another 4lbs to realise my target," she said proudly while taking a swig from the ever-present bottle of mineral water, "then I’ll be in Maintenance and can enjoy the Christmas festivities properly!"
   Out on the streets of the capital we found Eddie Clements (Y17). "Originally I was 17st 3lbs and in the 4 months I’ve been on it, I’m down to 14stone with a target of 13st 4lbs. I’ve found it really easy, it’s about mental approach and determination to
  achieve what you want," he said."
   Finally we caught up with Martin Hizer (M47). "It’s about a change of life style," he told us. "I was 18stone originally and am now at 13st. 9lbs, having shed 4.5 stones. You can experiment by adding water to the food sachets to make Muffins, Vanilla Smoothies and a wide variety of other foods. Soups, milkshakes, the choice is huge if you let your imagination and a microwave go wild! Just add differing amounts of water. But drinking up to 8 litres of water a day makes you an expert on ‘watering holes’!  There’s not a pub, club or hotel I don’t know about! It averages out about every 2 jobs that you need to stop and let me tell you, even walls and paving stones are not safe!" he laughed. At that point our conversation was cut short as Martin disappeared down a nearby alleyway. We didn’t enquire as to where he was going!
   Between them, the above four lost around 21stone
