As Call Sign’s Editor was about to enter
Brunswick House, he heard the unmistakable sound
of a female crying. “What’s wrong,” asked young Alan to the DaC call taker, “lost your mobile?” As no one - but no one – from DaC’s fourth floor leaves BH without a phone stuck against their lughole, he was obviously showing the caring side that being an Editor means. “No,” said the young lady, “I’m crying through happiness. Gemma has just got engaged.” Mr Ed looked around and saw the happy couple – DaC call taker Gemma Goodwin had just been surprised when boyfriend Les Reardon – apparently on Mr Riesel’s circuit – called Gemma down during her tea break “…to tell her something!” She rushed down for her 15-minute tea break and went outside to see Les who was |

to Gemma and there, sparkling in the summer sun,
was a beautiful engagement ring. “You’ll have to marry me now,” whispered Les. “I suppose so,” replied Gemma trying hard not to look excited until she just couldn’t hold it in anymore. Suddenly, Gemma’s smile lit up the street and the watching call taker - who had only come out for a quick |

Did Gemma know about the ring? “To be honest,” said Gemma, “I picked it out, but I didn’t know he was going to give it to me then.” 25 year old Gemma and Les (32) have known each other since they were babies and always knew that they’d end up together.
