DRIVER OPERATIONS UPDATE |
Way on 0207 700 4443 and arrange for the interface to be
checked at the very earliest opportunity. Can I also remind
you that if the meter is changed to a different model or
make the interface will almost certainly also need to be
changed. As previously mentioned, from
1st August 2005 a special trip attribute will be set up for
this purpose and any drivers with meters unable to provide
the exact accurate information will not be offered journeys
from clients who request reports that specifically request
this information.
Terrorist Attack
Can I finally reflect on the appalling events of
July 7. How the families and friends of the victims are
coping is unimaginable and our hearts go out to them. But as
members of a trade that work in London, we will never give
in to these types of atrocities. It made me proud when I
heard on radio of Licensed Taxi Drivers greatly helping the
public and offering free rides to and from their places of
work and to home. I found it equally as hard to understand
how a minicab firm based in Shepherds Bush could charge
obscene prices - £100 per head for short journeys - on such
a distressing day. They should feel thoroughly ashamed

Hello Ladies
and Gents,
By the time you read this article the new football
season will be upon us once again. I am not going to gloat
but will quietly mention that I have won a few bets recently
on the new Premiership Champions! Here’s to the coming
campaign…Canary Wharf Ranking
By now you must all be aware that the ranks in
Canary Wharf were changed recently to assist and help offer
what you have requested. Unfortunately, there was an
intermittent bug that appeared on the very first night of
the live operation and even after many hours of faultless
software testing in a training environment, the live
changeover did not operate exactly how it should have done.
The decision to revert back to using the two ranks (E14C and
E14S) instead of an additional night Rank (E140) was made by
the BoM and as soon as the software has been modified to
operate as it should, the new ranking system will be
reinstated. Sometimes with new technology unforeseen
problems can occur, but rest assured that work is in hand to
rectify the situation as soon as possible. See Keith Cain’s
article for further info…
Terminal Upgrade
I have sent out many terminal |

messages recently asking for drivers to pop in to Roman Way
to have the latest upgrade (3.4.3), but there are still a
number of you that have failed to show.
There should now be no excuses due to the extended working times,
so please ladies and gents, put yourself out for a short
period. It is very important that the whole of the fleet is
upgraded and it does fix a couple of bugs that some of you
may have experienced.
Meter Interface
Another very important issue is the compatibility
of certain meters with our data equipment. A small number of
drivers have been contacted both by telephone and letter to
visit the fitting bay to have their meters checked. As you
know, for ease of operation the fare on the meter
automatically transfers over to the terminal. If you are
manually entering the meter fare at the end of a Dial-a-Cab
journey, you must ring Roman |
