Cabot Square Ranks
Unfortunately the implementation of E140 did
not go according to plan and I can only
apologise to those drivers who were affected
on the first and second evenings. The reason
it was withdrawn is because the instructions
that were given to make both E14C and E14S
operate the same as EC5 did exactly that!
All work on E140 was despatched ‘As
Directed’ and ‘Non Rejectable’! We
discovered that at the very last minute and
desperately tried to introduce a work-around
until Debbie Carter could alter the new
software. It proved that our attempt to
dispatch all work from both E14C and E14S
after 21:00 as rejectable and with
destinations had failed. We have therefore
decided to wait until September to make the
alteration, which will be at a time when
work is picking up after the usual
relatively quiet August.
July 7th Attack
I know Brian Rice has already
written about this in his Chairman’s Report,
but it is worthy of a second mention. I
would like to take this opportunity to thank
all those members of staff who worked on 7
July. Their efforts in doing their jobs
under the most extreme conditions ever
experienced were something special. Not one
person
requested to take a break or even stop
working for a bite to eat. Their sole
intention was to get the |
in-bound calls answered and give clients
the best service they could. I was very
proud of them and the way they worked as a
team. Well done to you all and take the
compliments you have received from customers
as very well deserved.
To the drivers who worked through on that
day, a big thank-you from our team here.
Your efforts did not go unnoticed and you
too did the Society proud.
DaC Charity Golf Day
Usually we have a small article regarding
how the Dial-a-Cab Charity Golf Day went.
This year, with the winning team coming from
the Call Sign stable, I am anticipating the
Editor has made this edition a bumper one
with plenty of photographs! The DaC Charity
Golf Day is the follow-on from the days when
we competed in the Joint Radio Taxi
Association Golf Day, only now it is
arranged to hopefully raise money for a
charity. The Albany Charity was
chosen for this year |
and I am please to announce that the day raised £4,000 for them.
Of course, the day would not have been
successful without the sponsorship of our
clients, suppliers and other trade
organisations and I would like to take this
opportunity to say a special thank you to
all the drivers who participated in the day
and to those clients and suppliers who
donated a little extra by sponsoring a hole.
I must give a special mention to Westminster
Motor Insurance who not only entered two
teams, but also sponsored the soft drinks at
halfway. It was also a kind gesture by them
to send two of their charming lady members
of staff to hand out the drinks that were so
welcomed by the players on this gloriously
hot and sunny day.
Congratulations to Ray Scott T34 for winning
the individual competition. Ray beat last
year’s winner Keith Andrews who was a guest
by having scored one point more on the back
nine holes.
For those of you who play golf and did not
enter this year, then please look out for
next year’s venue. I have a feeling this
event will go from strength to strength and
benefit worthwhile causes.
Editor’s note: Did you mention who won?
