Ranking at Cabot Square
As we all know - and as I warned in the February Call Sign - the Docklands enforcement teams are at and around Cabot Square moving illegally parked drivers on. The DaC project to implement another rank is still ongoing and our technology is being developed. As soon as we are in a position to implement that rank and trips can be despatched between each rank before going into the primary zone, we will certainly do it.
   I would like to thank those drivers who have taken the time to speak with me with their suggestions for operating in the Docklands area.

Signals
The problem with signals is still a high priority project that is also ongoing. Allan Evans reported last month of the implementation of the crystal filters that we have installed at each aerial site. While we know the filters have improved the signals, we will never receive one hundred percent accuracy. If you experience constant ‘resend’ problems, please make some checks of your equipment before paying a visit to Roman Way.

forgotten about. Just as in the days when radios were first fitted to vehicles and the aerial needed to be fixed securely to receive a good signal, that still applies today with the cab. Please make regular checks to see that your aerial is securely fitted and it is not leaning backwards.
   For those who are unaware, our manager at Roman Way for many years, Peter Thurston, has decided to leave us and bring his retirement date forward. Peter often spoke of retiring to the Isle of White, which I understand is exactly what he has done and I wish him and his family well for the future. Rather than look for a replacement, it has been agreed that Allan Evans will base himself at Roman Way. He will continue to assist me with Driver Operations and manage our marshalling; the only change will be his contact number and as soon as this becomes available, no doubt Allan will publish it.  
   Allan and I have recruited additional fitters with the plan of keeping Roman Way open for longer periods. As soon as the fitters have been sufficiently trained, the depot will be open
 

Dial-a-Cab Logos
Another reminder to those of you who are claiming reduced subscriptions for carrying logos and do not have them fitted. Should you be reported, your subscriptions will be increased immediately and they will not be put back until you have presented your vehicle either at Roman Way or Brunswick House. You would be surprised how many drivers advise us of those drivers they see without DaC logos.

Chas Kissin
Finally, I would like to thank all those drivers who assisted Chas Kissin when he had his recent unfortunate accident. I am sure Chas does not need me to say his thanks, but so far as the Call Centre staff were concerned on that evening, it was pleasing to have drivers on the scene to keep them updated as to what was happening. More importantly, it enabled them to pass information on to Chas’s wife and transport her to the hospital as quickly as we could. Wishing you a speedy recovery Chas…
