Both Jan and I were impressed with the décor and overall layout of the place. The deep plum coloured walls are bathed in an array of soft white lighting - creating a warm, cosy ambience throughout. Tables and booths are not crammed together as is often the case and the split level eating areas were accessible by slopes as opposed to steps; a disability considerate accent continues throughout the restaurant leading to the toilets where wide doorways allow easy access to a purpose built "disabled friendly" restroom. Background music was gentle enough on the ear, soft rock as I recall. The well-stocked bar is the only area in the restaurant in which smoking is permitted. Even here, the superb air conditioning ensures a smog free environment without making the place icy cold. The professional bar staff of two were friendly calm and efficient. At 8pm, we were collected from our bar perches by "Kattie" the smartly dressed General Manager who escorted us to our spacious table/booth. preferred it a little moister. Our waitress suggested the hamburger for me which was a generous beef patty garnished with cheese, tomato and lettuce. It was extremely tasty. The menu wasn’t as extensive as some, but overall we felt it catered for most tastes and clearly indicated plenty of vegetarian dishes as well as some interesting ‘weekend brunch’ items in addition to a full English breakfast. Yevgeniya continued to be efficient and attentive without invading our space. Waiting staff that ‘hover’ irritate the hell out of me! We chose a chocolate mouse for Jan’s desert and I went for the crème Brule which came with lemon liquor in a shot glass. The coffee that finished the meal was rich and bitter and went down a treat. Dave’s star rating (out of 10)… Décor……………….….. 7 Service…………………. 8 Food presentation ……… 9 Overall value for money ... 10 David Kupler (Y74) |
