After
Howard Kott (B74) won last year’s Taxi Driver of the Year Show to make it
two wins in consecutive years, he told Call Sign:
“It’s a bit early to say for sure, but I’m sorely tempted
to try and get my name into the record books next year with a hat-trick of
wins.”
No one had ever won the title on three consecutive
occasions, but on Sunday September 7 at the fitting venue of the PCO’s
‘Passing’ yard, Howard took his third consecutive title before telling
us:
“I feel great, but I think this is it. I can’t see
myself being here next year, but then again, I didn’t really expect to be
here this year!”
Due to circumstances beyond the control of the organisers,
this year’s show was put together at the last moment and considerably low
key compared to the usual event, however, the record books will show Howard
Kott as the winner of the cup, keeping the continuity of the world’s
longest running Taxi driving competition going.
DaC’s
David Ammar (L75) was the highest placed Lucas meter prize winner, Jim Pullum (R45) finished
in joint 10th position while Andy Daniels (A2) was
unplaced but told Call Sign there was a good reason for that and as soon as
he could think of it, he’d let us know!
“Honestly,”
said Andy, “being in it is what’s important and I’m amazed that
more drivers don’t give it a go.”
