Ties in With DaC's Fiftieth...!
As we at Dial-a-Cab prepare to celebrate our Golden Anniversary, so
Martin Freeborn (C67) celebrates a more personal achievement - his 30th new
taxi! No, not all at the same time, but Martin changes his cab every year.
His taxis are usually a dignified maroon or red in colour, but this year in
honour of the dual celebrations, he has opted for a Golden hue. Call Sign
caught up with Martin to get the low-down on changing his cabs more

change," he said. "It was difficult for the first few years as I

I have no annual overhaul or quarterly inspections to worry about, the cab
is always under warranty and I can offer a low mileage, warranted vehicle
for sale at the end of the year. I have a 'club' of regular buyers who

abreast of vehicle upgrades and developments. I'm never more than a year
behind," he continued.
We asked Martin about dealerships. "I'm probably Mann
& Overton's most prolific single buyer," he told us with no
apparent fear of offering a free ad! "All my 30 taxis have been
supplied by them and are likely to be so in future as well."
Martin Freeborn won the coveted 'Taxi Driver of the Year' award
in 1990/91, is a 'City of London' guide and also a Freemason.
