Virgin Account
Ladies and Gents, I'm sure that you are now all
fully aware that we are now into the second
month of weekend working on the Virgin - Euston
account 00750. It is certainly a major
operation, different to any exercise that I have
ever worked on in my time as a Board member and
driver at Dial-a-Cab. The first few weeks were a
learning curve for all of us with constant
modifications and improvements to all procedures
having helped in what we must all see as a great
success.
But we must not be
complacent. This account is very high
profile and probably more talked about within
the trade than any I can ever remember.
Representatives from Virgin are in constant
touch and I can assure you all that they are
delighted with the service that we are
providing. However, can I please ask all of you
to make an extra effort to be smart if you are
working at any of the designated stations. If
you have any queries on the day with any trip or
pick up, can you telephone the drivers line on 0207
426 3411. The Call Centre will make all
decisions as to where taxis should be and they
are also responsible for monitoring drivers and
allocating the correct numbers of taxis at each
of the stations throughout each shift. If you
have accepted a one-off trip though the system,
|

you must treat
it as a single journey and then return to work
in the normal way. In most cases, there should
be enough taxis available at each of the
stations, so please do not wait for long
periods or hassle the Marshals at any station
unless you are one of the pre-allocated
drivers.
Some members have contacted Keith
Cain or myself to express concern that some
drivers have been used on more than one
occasion over the past few weeks on this
account. We have a driver database in place
and once a driver's name has been drawn, we
operate a fairly foolproof method to stop any
duplicating. Please be assured that measures
are in place
to help make this as fair as it can possibly
be. Many drivers are now available for this
work and over the next three months, many more
drivers will get their chance!
I apologise if Keith and I have given similar
reports re the above account, but we are
spending a lot of time on it. It is important that you know what is expected.

DaC Marshals
We have an excellent team of Marshals who are
on-site not only during the Virgin work, but
also at many regular locations and corporate
events throughout the year. Many of the Marshals
are regular faces, but there are now some new
names that you will meet over the coming
weeks. Somewhere in this issue of Call
Sign, you will be able to put names to some of
the faces, but I would like to thank one of our
Marshals, Jim Pullum (C31), who has now decided
to stand down from all marshal duties. Jim was a
regular face at Euston Station and on behalf of
all of the team, I would like to wish him well
for the future and thank him for his support
over the past six years since I have known him.
We didn't always see eye to eye on everything,
but his views were always worth listening to.
For those of you who wish to work
at Goldman Sachs at Shoe Lane, the busy period
is between 8.30pm and 10.30pm. During these
times, there are many passengers who will
approach the rank with Charge Cards. This is a
joint account and you have equal right to all
trips from Peterborough Court. Marshals are
on-site to assist those who aren't sure how the
Charge Card system operates.
