Have you been watching the current BBC series called Great Britons? Are
you bemused that the likes of Diana and John Lennon are in the top ten? As
usual, the BBC has provided a great resource to discuss and compare the
contenders HERE. I'm always impressed with the BBC's website, it's just so informative and useful. To try to help the visitor make an informed decision, they provide details of the contender's main achievements together with hyperlinks for more detailed information. I suppose the visitors who voted for Diana didn't go to the bother of investigating her history or that of the other contenders, that's why she's in second place. My one regret is that I didn't investigate this website earlier and therefore you may not be able to vote by the time you read this article. Anyway, it's still worth a visit even if only to read the discussions on the message boards. If like me, you feel a Great Briton is someone whose actions directly affect the way we live now, then the likes of Cromwell, Nelson, Brunel, and Churchill are all great. But where do Lennon and Diana fit? What did Diana or Lennon do that was great? If you wish to discuss this, then visit the excellent discussions forums HERE How did I vote? recession or so our Government say. What planet are they on? I'm afraid the IT industry is seriously struggling at the moment and this recession will only get worse "...unless we have a war," as a financial analyst recently said. He reported that over the last 200 years, recessions have lasted 15 years and where they didn't last 15 years, a war brought the country out of recession. Blair, Bush, Saddam? 'Nuff said... Speaking of work, my son recently had an interview with the headmaster of the secondary school he wants to attend and one of the questions asked was what he wanted to do when he was older? I felt like answering for him saying he'd like to be an MP so that he could award himself a 40% salary increase whilst everyone else has 3-4%. If only I'd studied at school..... Exposed...!
