DIAL-A-CAB AT THE PCO OPEN DAY
 Sunday July 6 saw the first Public Carriage Office Open Day incorporating Transport for London. That element involved an interesting display from London Buses including old and new (bendy) buses and an LT museum shop. But as you'd expect, it was the taxi trade that formed the nucleus of the exhibition. The vintage taxis were there in all their aged splendour, Dial-a-Cab were there showing all the latest technological advances, the "green" ECO cab sat there, but the PCO's collection of taxi memorabilia is second to none and the History of the Cab Trade made for a very interesting browse. In addition, the upstairs "torture chambers" were opened to public scrutiny for the first time with the Knowledge rooms looking much more bearable when you aren't staring into the eyes of an examiner, although one was present to explain the reasons behind their questions. What with a police display, charity stalls and an excellent brass band, the PCO's Open Day was a very enjoyable exercise and one that should be persevered with.
