On Saturday July 13, Dial-a-Cab were once again
pleased to support the JP Morgan charity Fun Day, which for the third
year running was held at Kempton Park racecourse.
As sponsors, we were allocated 100 entry tickets that we
offered to our staff on a first come first served basis. Needless to
say the tickets were quickly taken and happily nobody was left out.
As on previous occasions, many preferred to go by coach
so one was supplied and our very capable back channel operator Gary
Gates volunteered to take control of proceedings, which Call Sign is
told included providing entertainment on the journey.
With the fun day being mainly for children, the
organisers had everything imaginable to suit all ages. Food and drink
of all types were in abundance and with the weather being absolutely wonderful, many families had come prepared
with picnic hampers. For the second year running, JP
Morgan dedicated their fun day to the Willow Foundation, a charity

'Special Days' to seriously ill young adults
aged between 16 and 40.
The Willow Foundation, spearheaded by ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson
and his wife Megs, is a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who
died from a rare form of cancer in December 1998, shortly before her
32nd birthday.
After Anna's death, Bob and Megs approached hospitals and
hospices to see what help they could best give to other young adults
dealing with long-term illness. They were told that although the
medical profession could provide the diagnosis and the treatment, they
could not provide the quality of life, so important to those in the
prime of their life and trying to cope with life-threatening illness.
With the support of the Welwyn & Hatfield Times, they set about
forming an organisation, which would offer recipients the chance to
achieve an ambition or simply the chance to do something normal. The
Willow Foundation was launched on 25th August 1999.
Further details regarding the Willow Foundation can be
