It was also nice sto see that the majority of
drivers have faith in the way that the present Board are managing their Society. You will
always have a small band ready to try and disrupt the smooth running of the Society, but I
know that the majority of our drivers are hard working, caring people.
Speaking of the AGM, I would like to congratulate Allan Evans on his
appointment to the Board. Allan will be working closely with our department as he is
taking over the New Drivers training.
Whilst mentioning training, if you are unsure about any part of the training
or use of the terminal, you should phone me on 020 7251 0581 ext 555. If I cannot talk you
through it on the phone, I will arrange for a trainer to come in on a one-to-one basis for
you. "New" Old Reject Disable
You will most probably know by now that the proposition to reinstate the
original Reject Disable was passed at the AGM.
There are probably many drivers who do not remember what the original one consisted of, so
I will list the restrictions here for you...
1.You have to be working for 6 hours and have completed 3
account rides.
2. You can then do a Reject Disable and you will have 1 hour
in which you can reject jobs hoping to find one towards your home zone.
3. During that hour, if you accept a journey through the system, on |
sending a CLJ the Reject Disable
facility will be turned off.
4. If you don't accept a trip during the hour on Reject Disable, the
facility will be turned off.
5. If you decide to carry on working after the 60 minutes, you will be
subject to the normal reject penalty system.
6. You will not be offered any As Directed trips; these include Deutsche
Bank, Morgan Stanley, House of Commons, Finsbury Square or any jobs between 07:00 to
10:00.
The Changes will be implemented at 10:00 on Monday 5th March 2001 Overhauls,
Sickness and Cabot Square!
Please do not forget to inform this department of your new PCO licence plate and the
expiry date following your overhaul. This enables us to contact you quickly if there is
any problem arising with your taxi, otherwise the person complaining goes to the Carriage
Office. It also enables us to keep
our Society records up to date in respect that you are still an Owner Driver and allowed
to hold a share in the Company.
I have had drivers complaining that when they are off sick with a serious
illness, we do not keep in touch with them. We can only do this if we are informed of your
illness, if we see that the taxi has
not been working it could be that you have gone on an extended
holiday. Sometimes the driver is not in a position to
inform us, so it would be nice if |
a friend or relative would let us know.
We have received many letters and phone calls regarding the Cabot Square
rank, especially during the evening and night hours. We do know that our drivers go onto
the island to primarily do account work. As the island is private property, we cannot
dictate to the owners that we want a separate area just for radio taxis. We are at this
moment in negotiations with the owners to try and convince them that their residents need
our exclusive service for their staff. It is hoped that they will be sympathetic to our
plea. And Finally...
If you need to advertise your cab for sale, please write the details neatly
on a piece of paper and leave it with Security at the Driver's Reception. We will then
make out a card and display it in the notice board where it will be left for one month
unless the driver informs us that he has sold the taxi.
Some drivers now have access
to Email, this being the case, if you have information which you need to send to me, then
you can use one of following Email addresses.
drivers-dac@btinternet.com or tom.Whitbread@btclick.com
Just as a final word, it is nice to see so many of our drivers wearing the
Dial-a-Cab jackets, even the clients are now remarking about the smartness of our drivers
in their jackets.
