How it looked around the world Last month Call Sign exclusively told the story about a consortium
of cab drivers - many of them on DaC - who had formed a financial club
(FISCAL) investing on the Stock Market and who were featured on Sky TV's
'Simply Money' channel. |

HOW TO JUMP START YOUR TAXI | ||
There are a
surprisingly large number of taxi drivers who do not know how to
jump-start their taxi if necessary. A well maintained battery should last
at least two years but few of us can say that we've never been caught out
by a flat battery. So here goes... Always keep a good set of jump cables in the boot, there is no point buying cheap ones because they won't conduct enough power. Most jump-start cables come in red and black, but contrary to popular belief, it doesn't matter which colour you use so long as that colour connects like to like. 1. Park the vehicles close enough so that the batteries can be linked. |
2. Connect one end of a cable to the good battery's positive (+)
terminal and the other end to the poor battery's positive (+) terminal. |
the engine speed. 5. Start the cab with the flat battery and keep fingers crossed that that's all it was! 6. Once started, disconnect the leads attached to both negative (-) terminals first followed by both positive (+) terminal leads. Do not allow any cable ends to touch any other part of
the cab other than the battery terminals once the connection has begun. |
