Chas Kissin (P99) Pulls Out of Mayoral RaceFollowing a recent excellent interview by London Taxi Times Editor
Al Fresco on GLR 94.9, Al responded to the question: Who would you like to
see as Mayor of London? by answering "Chas Kissin." So Call Sign
decided to ask Chas (P99J) - Call Sign's pop historian - what his plans
were regarding the GLA Mayor of London election. Does he still intend
standing - especially following the humiliation of Jeffrey Archer. |

"in fact you'd have a job finding the cupboard! But there is
one thing in which I'm not boring and where I leave the other candidates
standing: I know London and I know what needs doing. I think that I leave
the others standing in that respect." Chas went on to say: "There is no reason on Earth why a London taxi driver can't operate as Mayor as well as anyone else. Why should it be a political position? The parties claim that it isn't but you could have fooled me!" "If my name appears on the ballot form" Chas went on to add, "I hope that the trade will support me." However, Chas has two stumbling blocks in his way. Firstly one of finance. Running for Mayor isn't cheap and he will need some form of financial backing. The second problem is far more down-to-earth.
