Former Dial-a-Cab
IT department assistant Joanne Wright, packed her bags and went to Australia for a year or
two with her boyfriend Nicky. She promised to keep Call Sign updated with some jottings on
her adventures and this is her first report... THE
WRIGHT DIARIES FROM SOMEWHERE IN AUSTRALIA...
Hi all and how the hell are ya! Sorry it has taken me so long to contact Call Sign but
I've been a busy little girl - you know, all that swimming and sunning! The first three
months have really whizzed by, but the fun and enjoyment hasn't lessened one bit.
Well, where do I start. I'm actually in paradise and loving every minute of
it. It's called Three Mile Beach and it's at Port Douglas in the north of the country.
We have just returned from an amazing trip to the Great Barrier Reef and
actually saw two hump-backed whales which they tell me is pretty unusual - well at least
it is in London!
Unfortunately, it has come to the point where my boyfriend Nicky and I have
had to start working to make the funds stretch. So I started working for a limo/taxi
company and in fact I think Brian spoke to my new boss to give him a reference.

Joe's first time behind a wheel Unfortunately, I did it
for a little while but it was too stressful for a travelling job - especially as I have
grown to love the beach so much!
There is not much to tell about the limo company as I only worked there for a short
while. I thought that the owner could have run it in a much simpler way than he was.
So I now do house-keeping jobs which get us by for the moment. Meanwhile,
Nicky and I have both pretty much turned into beach bums now! This travelling buzz has
well and truly mellowed us out.
The Fourth Month
We have now moved on from Port Douglas. We are in a place
called Arlie Beach and have just come back from a three day sailing trip around
Whitsunday's Island. So far, this must classify as the highlight of our stay in Oz.
Hey, we were doing nothing but baking in the sun on a luxurious sailing boat
while staying in the honeymoon suite of the boat! And no, it's nothing like the boating
lake in Victoria Park E2!
We are going to stay with the skipper of the boat for a couple more days
here, Port Douglas was great but this...Wow!!!
Luck has certainly been following us around and we'll be moving on again
soon. we will keep Call Sign in touch.
I hope every one is well at the old place. Love to all...
