Call Sign has followed the exploits of our four Dial-a-Cab drivers - Paul Bishop (R64), John Dixon (B67), Phil Stern (B98J) and Bob Woodford (P49) - who have been helping BLISS (Baby Life Support Systems) collect funds to help pay for the new and ever-more expensive hospital equipment that is needed to help babies with urgent need of special care. They have already completed in the 1998 London and New York marathons and collected enough to pay for an incubator.
Their target for 1999 is the Berlin marathon in September and they hope that our drivers will once again sponsor them.

Bob Woodford P49) has set himself an even harder task. In April 2000 - again for BLISS - he aims to run across the Sahara Desert carrying a full back-pack! To succeed, Bob must run 143 miles in seven days! Call Sign has already ordered it’s camel and will follow Bob’s run under the hot, desert sun.
Meanwhile, Eastenders star Barbara Windsor has helped publicise BLISS by launching the BLISS cab - sponsored by Liberty Mutual Insurance (UK) Ltd.
Barbara - a supporter of the licensed trade - told Call Sign:
"70,000 babies are born each year in this country either too early or with other problems. BLISS helps them get the best possible start to their lives. I hope that this special cab will help to raise the charity’s profile as well as bringing awareness to it’s work."

DOUBLE DIAL-A-CAB DOOR LOGO DRAW WINNERS

There may have been no February Call Sign, but the cab door logo prize draws still continued. So this issue has two winners - both from south of the Thames.
Firstly, the winner of the January logo draw was Craig Forrest (L36) from Welling, Kent. Craig told Call Sign that he had just re-tyred the cab and that the money covered the sum nicely. He has always had the door logo on his cab but suggested that there should be a see through logo for coloured cabs. Suggestion passed on, Craig. But for the sum of £300, we can get it passed on even quicker…!
The February winner was Lee Prescott (E48), who hails from Rotherhithe. A member of Dial-a-Cab for 18 months, Lee accepted the £300 gratefully, but "…couldn’t quite understand why they had to check my door logos." Lee still hadn’t twigged as to WHY he had won £300!
However, he had no intention of returning the loot. He told Call Sign:
"I’d never really thought about the DaC door logos - I had just accepted them

as being part of the cab. I love them now - and so will my wife, as a weekend in Paris is beckoning!
Don’t forget, if you don’t have door logos, you can’t win the money.
