On June 3rd Dial-a-Cab once again were pleased to accept an invitation
from Robert Fleming & Co to exhibit our stand at the annual Travel
Trade Fair that they hold in their premises at Copthall Avenue.
Representing DaC for our second year were David Adelman, Christine Beck
who is the account manager for Robert Fleming, and myself.
Our stand consisted of various new graphics, highlighting our recently refurbished Call Centre, a prototype of new MDT's, real-time bookings via the Internet etc. A goody bag made up of |

several interesting items were handed out to Robert Flemings personnel who
visited the fair which overall, was extremely well attended. In recent years, trade fairs, vendor symposiums and individual seminars are becoming increasingly popular amongst the large corporates. More and more clients are recognising the need to generate closer associations with their suppliers, to create better relationships, a greater understanding of each others needs, a common code of excellence and an emphasis on making contracts more win-win rather than the bog-standard contracts of the past which were primarily supplier orientated. It is gratifying to note that when David, Keith and myself first visited a vendor symposium several years ago, we discovered what was to prove a very important area in our sales portfolio that, up until then, had received little consideration. Being already aware of the fact that quite often a client will reluctantly stay with their present supplier even though they are |
dissatisfied with their service rather than
tolerate the trauma, upheaval and cost of moving to another supplier, it
became evident that 'seamless transition' would be a big plus if it could
be achieved. But achieve it we did. Clients today are extremely impressed with the work we put in to make moving their account to us simple, pain free and seamless. Obviously each client is different, but basically the areas we concentrate on are designated management personnel and numerous management stats, many of which are offered only from DaC and most noticeably, the pro-active and visibly appreciated in-house seminars that we arrange at the clients premises which allows us to meet and talk with heads of personnel and those members of staff authorised to use our service. Also the specially produced bespoke designed booklets which we distribute to every member of staff explaining our service and consisting of answers to the most common questions expected of the client when changing to a new supplier. |
Unlike in the past
when clients discouraged staff from having too close-a-contact with the
supplier, the philosophy of many of the large corporates today is to put
the responsibility onto the supplier to promote their service to the
individual staff rather than the corporate itself. Which is exactly what
we and the other vendors were doing at Robert Flemings travel fair. When one considers the thousands-upon-thousands of personnel we transport throughout the year, it is surprising how few of those staff members have any idea about our company, the size of our fleet, the technology we use or the size of our premises. On that last point, the common perception amongst many of the staff and senior management is that our office is on par with a minicab outfit above the local fish shop or such like, and it's only when they visit Brunswick House that are they truly surprised and impressed by what they see. All-in-all, another successful day for Dial-a-Cab... Allen Togwell |

DAC DRIVER PUSHING NEW BOXING SENSATION |
||
Dial-a-Cab
driver Grant Davis (L39) already has a link with Chelsea FC
supremo Ken Bates by driving his liveried 'Chelsea Village' cab. Now he
has introduced 18 year old amateur boxing sensation David Haye to Mr
Bates. David is already considered to be the most in-demand amateur boxer since Billy Walker and has been pencilled in as a possibility to represent England at the World Championships in the light-heavyweight division in |
Houston next month. Grant's connection
to David Haye came about because in his younger teenage years, he too was
knocking eight bells out of all-comers at Haye's boxing club, the Fitzroy
Lodge. |
Carney, David is
now starting to think like a fighter: "He now realises that he has a lot of talent and could go a long way. But I could do without him posing in a pair of pants!" Grant Davis thinks that David is going to go to the top - with or without posing in his underwear! Call Sign wishes David the best of British for a successful future. |
