Mailshot continued same job for a length of time? Would it not be a good idea to print these good
jobs and their pickups or print the job and price as 1 am sure that 95% of the drivers do
not know anything about these jobs and would be more than interested to bid for them - !
have done many Westminster rides and have not seen these so called 'good' jobs come out,
not that I'm looking for them, after all, a job is a job and I want to keep working. Does anyone have a view on Johns cab-share suggestion for Cabot Square? As for the Special Needs account, I am told that the new ranks seem to have made many drivers much happier than they were before. The job that John specifically mentions - Andover wait and return - is approximately £300 and is only one of many good jobs coming out every day from this account Ed EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT AND EXCELLENT! At first, we will
be assisting the members with information on parts and technical know-how. The future will
show if we grow. I am also considering becoming a member of the L.V.T.A. Good luck Hans. Let us know when you get your first Low-Loader! GETTING BETTER Absolutely delighted to hear how well you have recovered, Ray. Look forward to seeing you on the road soon Ed SHALOM AND THANK YOU The above letter was sent from Israel and addressed to Dial-a-Cab: "The driver who took me to EL-AL Heathrow at 1.30 pm 14th Sept 98 from Imperial College" and followed by the normal address. If it was you, contact the editor for details Ed |
IRRESPONSIBLE EDITOR Thank you for your reply to my letter re Toms resignation (October Call Sign). Two points I would like to bring to your attention. Firstly, I would have thought that any responsible editor would check his facts before going to print no matter how worthwhile the subject may be. Secondly, in February / March 87, Dowty were the selected supplier; that is a fact which can be confirmed by Ken Burns, other Board Members and BoM minutes. R.J. Patten (A30)I think that we should keep our feet on the ground here, Richard. I edit Dial-a-Cabs in-house magazine and not The Times. So I guess that by your standards, I will have to remain irresponsible because when I do another interview like the one with Tom - which I and many others found interesting - then no, I will NOT go through the minutes to check out every fact. I believe that you - and one other on a separate occasion - have now checked the minutes of the time and as you no longer have made comment on Tom, obviously accept that saying Dowty instead of Gandolph was simply a memory slip by Tom when being forced into giving a specific answer by me concerning an event that happened 15 years previous. As for part two, you are right. Dowty were the preferred suppliers just as it said in the 1987 Call Sign that you mention. At the time of the article, the statement was perfectly true and I didnt intend anyone to think that I was insinuating anything other than that. The fact is that not much more than a month or so later, Dowty became history so far as DaC were concerned. My point was that you cannot gauge the history of DaC by purely looking back through old Call Signs Ed HELP PLEASE, PAUL? |
