There can only be one story worthy of
the heading Mediawatch this month. Surely the most prestigious piece of
publicity ever gained by a representative of the cab trade - the almost full page
description of Dial-a-Cabs reception area in an excellent interview with Allen
Togwell and the stunning revellation that DAC and THE TIMES are working together on a new
competition to find the City Receptionist and City Reception of the Year. |
Bearing this in mind, Dial-a-Cab drivers are
probably some of the best qualified to judge the attributes of receptions - and
receptionists. That is why Dial-a-Cab has joined forces with The Times newspaper in
launching a brand new award - City Reception and City Receptionist of the Year Award - to
identify the best reception and best receptionist within the M25. |

||
At a press launch held recently at their Brixton Road showroom, Metrocab unveiled two additional models to their range and of course Call Sign was there | ![]() |

A spokesman for the company
referred to "
Metrocab responding to customer demand" by offering
enhancements that drivers had suggested. The company regarded London as an important
market and any sales success here was usually repeated countrywide. There was also a
choice of service agents covering London for the convenience of drivers. Stephen Ferris, of Metrocab Sales and Marketing described the virtues of each cab to the gathered guests, announcing that the vehicles would be ready for immediate delivery. The Londoner' as it will be known, is an upgraded Series I K, L or M reg. |
five-seater automatic, fitted
with wood rim steering wheel and re-vamped drivers seat, intercom., rear carpet, alarm
system, chrome wheel trims, sound proofing kit and front & rear skirted bumpers. The
price includes 12 months mechanical breakdown insurance, 12 months meter rental and road
tax. It can be financed over 4 /5 years from £91.97 per week. TheWestminster' is a high spec Series III boasting as standard equipment such creature comforts as air-conditioning, wood rim steering wheel, wooden dash surround, body and bumper mouldings and electrically operated door mirrors. A choice of |
Pacific Blue, Night Fire Red or
British Racing Green metallic paintwork will ensure the cab stands out from the crowd,
while making a statement about the driver too! This snazzy model can be financed from
£139.46 per week. I tried the vehicle and it did feel comfortable to sit in with all controls falling easily to hand. The wood veneer finish to the dash and the carpeting on the floor added to the luxurious feel of the interior. Just the job for the long-day men. Unfortunately, the food and drink supplied to us at the launch is not included with the two cabs. But they are still two crackers! |
