The secrets of a mysterious south London building are about to be revealed. For years, cab drivers have driven past the British Interplanetary Society at 27/29 South Lambeth Road wondering what was going on behind its doors - after all, have you ever seen anyone going in or out? If you have, were they "grey" with large black eyes and a height in excess of seven feet? Wonder no more. Call Sign has the answers . |
CALL SIGN LOOKS AT THE BRITISH INTERPLANETARY SOCIETY | |
The British Interplanetary
Society was formed in 1933 and it contains no aliens that we are aware of! But it does
promotes the study and development of astronautics. How space exploration will develop and
affect our own future is central to the interests of the society. One recent BIS program
has explored the idea of space tourism - can the cost of space travel eventually be
brought down to make space tourism a real possibility? Another long term discussion centres around Terraforming - making other worlds habitable for human beings to live on. Naturally, the long range exploration of the stars is yet another of many current topics under discussion. Anyone interested in astronautics and the promotion of the Societys work can become a member. Joining an existing 3,500 people, new members become part a learned Society that has made substantial contributions to the advancement of astronautics. By receiving Spaceflight, the Societys monthly magazine, members can keep abreast of all developments |
connected to the on-going
discoveries of outer space. Should that have any connection to tall, grey beings with
round, lidless black eyes, then you would be among the first to know. One of many distinguished BIS members, Arthur C.Clarke CBE - presenter of many television programmes on the mysterious and unexplained - told Call Sign: "The BIS is proud of its role for over half a century in alerting the public to the possibilities of Space. The Tools of Space, such as weather Earth resources and communication satellites, have had a major impact on our way of life. We should not be discouraged because there has been no follow-on from the Apollo programme and dreams of exploring Mars are now on hold. This makes the societys role even more vital and worthy of the support of everyone who is interested in Space". Call Sign would seriously like to hear from any driver who claims to have been kidnapped by, or has had contact with, any alien from outer space. |
