TRADING IN THE ECU
Whilst it has become quite apparent that the British Government have
declined at this point to introduce the much maligned European currency to our normal
day-to-day existence, considerable preparation will be taking place within all of the
Multi-national companies within London, so that as from the 4th January 1999,
their business will be able to trade if necessary, in the ECU.
To what extent this project takes priority will vary from a business sector
to a business sector with obviously the Merchant Banks, Finance Houses and Stockbrokers
spending a great deal of time and effort making sure that they will not miss a single days
trading once this new currency comes into action.
Several calls have been received from our customers within the above
categories, detailing the need for Dial-a-Cab to be ahead of the game and to insure that
our drivers will be made aware of the potential increase in work that there will be -
especially at weekends - when companies will be organising dress rehearsals in which their
aim will be to simulate the sequence of events that will likely take place early next
year. |

HOTELS FULLY BOOKED IN JANUARY!
Most hotels in London will be completely booked during certain weekends
leading up to the 4th January, due to a large proportion of staff from the
Financial sector being on 24-hour call in the hope that they can manage any unexpected
difficulties.
Regular Meetings have been taking place with one particular client, Morgan
Stanley Dean Witter, who from my experience will leave nothing to chance. From the 22nd
October to the 26th October, and the weekend commencing 12th December to the 16th
December, they are expecting a 60% increase in volumes of staff visiting 25 Cabot Square
compared to normal weekends, with constant traffic arriving to and from the airports with
ex-patriots on board who will be recommended to use Dial-a-Cab. During these busy periods,
we will be installing an implant based at Cabot |
Square, who will work closely
with a help desk providing information and assistance wherever possible and to, of course,
accept taxi bookings.
While I am sure that you, the members, will see this as an opportunity to
increase your earning potential with Christmas fast approaching, the customer will
hopefully once again look at this as another example of Dial-a-Cab being prepared to go
that extra 10% in effort to provide the ultimate in total customer satisfaction. We will
of course, endeavour to keep you informed of all of our clients activities leading up to
the big day.

Editors Note: From January 1st 1999, eleven European countries will be
adopting a single European common currency (currently the ECU but soon to become the
Euro). Even though the UK will not be joining immediately, the introduction of the Euro
will have a significant effect on the UK and its business markets. For your
information, the ECU = Euro = 100 eurocents. |
