Christmas scramble: Call Centre working flat out at Christmas

The London Taxi Drivers Fund for Underprivileged Children are pleased to announce that, together with the Variety Club of Great Britain, they will be promoting GOLD HEART DAY during the two months of January and February 1998.
Part of the promotion involves having as many taxis carrying the
GOLD HEART Logo on their cabs for the two months, as possible. They will remind the public to purchase a Gold Heart for Gold Heart Day on February 14th. The logos will be the transfer type which will easily peel off afterwards. Tip-up seat ads will tell passengers all about it. Permission, the Fund hope, will be obtained from the PCO. The logos are for the support of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.
Volunteer drivers will have to waive their normal advertising income for the two months while Taxi Media will produce the logos without charge.
In return for their assistance, the Variety Club will donate to the Fund a minimum of £20,000 towards one of their projects during this 70th anniversary year, which coincidentally is the Variety Club’s 70th as well.
The Fund are asking Dial a Cab drivers for volunteers to carry the logos. If you could would like to help them, phone the Appeals Secretary, Gerry Dunn on 0181 205 6754 and leave your number. He will contact you with the details.
As the Variety Club is known world wide, this could provide a great opportunity for the Licensed Taxi Trade to promote itself in a very favourable light.
At least twelve taxis will take to the streets with the
Gold Heart logo.
To broaden the interest in the taxis, the Variety Club will ‘lose’ a number of solid Gold Hearts in the rear of cabs so that passengers have the chance to win a piece of gold just by hailing a cab with the Gold Heart appeal logo on it.
What’s On wishes the appeal the best of luck and with DAC’s Gerry Dunn involved
