Mailshot continued INTERNET
READERS
Call Sign is sent around the world both in paper form but mostly on the
Internet where thousands are reading each issue on: http://www.taxicab.co.uk/dialacabmag
I thought you might like to see some of the letters from overseas that come in and
indeed, some of these recipients actually write for us thanks to the Internet introduction
(Sergio DiPanfilo in the November issue was a good example as is Peppe Arninge in this
issue)

PRAISE FROM LAS VEGAS
Call Sign puts many U.S. magazines to shame and not just the poorly printed
taxi industry publications. What a pleasure to read! Thank you for letting me see it! As
you probably know, a trip sheet, also known as a manifest, is an American taxi driver's
concurrent record of taxicab trips - required by law. Just as this term is not used in
England, call sign is not recognised here. I assume it is an abbreviated
driver identification. Keep up the good work!

AND SAN FRANCISCO
Thank you for being kind enough to send me Call Sign. It is absolutely
great! I will be proudly showing off my copy to all my friends. Now I can only think of
one suitable use for my pitiful Fare Play and that would likely occur just after a nice
reading of Call Sign!
Alan - you have done a very nice, professional-looking job, and I |
believe were you not a
super cab driver you could be a professional editor.

You will never believe it, but my wife still makes me go shopping with her!!..Ed
AND NEW ZEALAND
Having read your magazine on the Internet, may I congratulate you on an
excellent effort and thank you for bringing back many happy reminders of my time as a
London cab driver before coming to NZ in 1987. Can I pull you up on one point. In your
Editorial, you quite rightly say that taxis should be allowed in the Upper Street bus lane
- especially as they take wheelchairs and buses dont. However, unless
things have changed rather more dramatically than I could have imagined, Upper Street
comes under the auspices of Islington and not Camden!
But you still have a great taxi magazine.

Isnt it amazing! Not one driver spotted my boo-boo and I get rumbled by a
shepherd somewhere in New Zealand
!
AND SINGAPORE
I have recently seen the Christmas issue of your magazine on the Internet
and would wish to compliment you on the entertaining contents. Here in Singapore we |
have several good
quality magazines including Comfort (from Comfort Transportation) and
Cab News (from Yellow Top). It was an interesting experience for me to read of
the way Dial a Cab operates. I intend coming to London next year. Would it be possible to
have a tour of your establishment?

.AND OZ
I have read several Call Signs on your web site but notice that not all the
pages are transcribed. Is it possible to send the printed version as I am fed up reading
Taxi which is filled with the most boring info from the NSW Taxi Council. What Call Sign
does is to prove that serious taxi discussion is not harmed by some light-hearted banter.
More power to your elbow, sport.

Putting a magazine onto the Internet is a hugely expensive procedure and it is only
through the hard work of our computer expert Vince Chin that you get a 16 page version.
Generally speaking, you miss ads, any pages consisting of photos but with little text and
competitions etc. The 16 page version is a good representation of Call Sign
