CHRISTMAS COMPUTER CHINCHAT From Vince Chin |
Since we're right on top of Christmas, I
thought I'd introduce some web sites for those surfers with nothing better to do over the
holiday period. For the kids there's a nice magician's web site at: http://www.lanceburton.com The web site is named after Lance Burton (as if you couldnt guess that). He is an American magician who has decided to use the Internet to reach his fans. The site is nicely designed using three frames; a title frame at the top, a menu frame on the left and the content frame on the right. The menu frame has links to: Learning and performing magic, The online magic shop, Fan club, Performances and Newsroom etc. I particularly liked the section on learning and performing magic where he unveils some of the mysteries of magic. Here you will learn how to perform magical tricks and where he takes you through the stages of novice to advanced magician - ideal if you know someone who has received a magicians set this Christmas. In the on-line magic shop, you can join his fan club and receive some collectibles or further tricks. The performance section displays information related to Lance's future and past performances and the Newsroom lists past news articles about Lance's magical endeavours. He is obviously a respected magician in the States because the list of articles is quite large. One in particular relates to Lance making a herd of Elephants disappear! I'm afraid he doesn't unveil the secret of this particular trick in his learning and performing section. Lance's site is well worth a visit if you want to dazzle your holiday visitors with magical tricks. Editors note: In addition to being one of the USAs most respected magicians, Lance Burton (whose stage show is almost permanently based in Las Vegas at the Lance Burton Theatre which is part of the Monte Carlo Casino) is well known for the help he gives to LV cab drivers - both practical and charity. Two other sites I always return to are http://www.sega.com and http://www.sony.com where you can get details on all their games with downloadable versions - basically, try before you buy! Sega has a nice collection of demos at: |
http://www.sega.com/multimedia/game_demos
the only problem being the time it takes to download, but it's worth it if it keeps the
kids quiet. I especially liked Sony's kids site at http://www.sonywonder.com/wonderland
because I found it so user friendly and it intrigued even my kids - and that IS a
surprise! See you next month Vince Chin |
