DaC and parking |
||
You
will have read Keith Cain’s article on our visit to Westminster
Council and our meeting with the Director of Parking and the
Head of Parking. As you know, I have been banging on for months to try and arrange a meeting to discuss these PCN problems and was extremely pleased when we were invited to a meeting to put forward our concerns and look to some resolve. It was most certainly an interesting discussion, it was also important that both Keith and I did not be seen as dogmatic or demanding. However, our case was put succinctly and diplomatically. When negotiating, the best way is always to take account of the other point of view. I have mentioned this in the past, but I must emphasise again, we |
are not
representing the taxi industry when trying to get a resolve on these parking notices, just our drivers and clients. Nevertheless and on that point, this parking issue could be a great opportunity for all our trade organisations and representatives to work together on this major on-going problem. A concerted and structured approach from all could achieve far more, instead of independent meetings and sometimes egotistical self-interested individuals who try to badger those they are trying to come to some mutual satisfactory conclusion with, on whatever the issue may be. As I said, the meeting was interesting, although we did not get any resolution at that time because other meetings have been arranged |
with
other representatives from the taxi trade. However, I’m pleased to say that a future meeting is to be arranged, possibly at Dial-a-Cab House, to see what help can be forthcoming. In the meantime, please try not to park on ‘no loading’ or ‘unloading’ bays, double yellow lines or other restricted areas. This is difficult I know, but please do your best and do let the call centre know where you are parked if not outside the pick-up address. It should save grief from clients and some of the thousands of pounds Dial-a-Cab is spending on these fines. In closing, may I wish you all a very happy and PCN free New Year… Mike Son |
