You should all have received the
following two pieces of information
through the post, but just in case you
have forgotten, can I remind of them
both again…
New procedures regarding penalty charge
notices (PCN)
Due to the unacceptable level of Penalty
Charge Notices (PCN) received by the
Society, we have decided to bring in new
procedures for the fleet.
As from 1 February 2006 and until further notice, we are disputing
all Penalty Charge Notices that are
issued for those drivers who were on
account rides when receiving the PCN.
The new procedures are as follows: -
1. On
receipt of your PCN - DO NOT PAY.
2. Bring the PCN into Driver Services IMMEDIATELY because
the notice has to be disputed within 14
days.
3. Drivers must sign an Authorisation Form allowing
Dial-a-Cab to dispute the PCN on their
behalf. These forms will be available
from Driver Services or Drivers
Reception.
4. Failure to adhere to the above procedures will result in the |

driver being liable for
payment of the PCN.
Dial-a-Cab is doing its best to try and resolve parking issues in
London on behalf of its members. In the
meantime, should you have any queries
relating to the above, please contact
Driver Services on extension 444 or 445.
New credit card procedures
Following recent procedure changes
regarding credit card trips, I would
like to confirm the correct method of
accepting and clearing credit cards.
All Credit Card trips MUST be swiped through your Dial-a-Cab
terminal regardless of whether the
booking has come through the system or a
street hail.
The following procedures must be
adhered to: -
- Scrutinise the card. |
- Swipe the card, if the
card does not swipe ask for an
alternative card or method of payment.
- Cardholder must be present at the end
of the journey.
- The card and the amount must be
authorised through the terminal.
- The printed receipt showing the fare,
administration and handling charges,
must be given to the cardholder.
- The signature on the copy retained by
the driver must be the same as that on
the card.
- If you cannot receive a signal, you
must complete a manual credit slip
(available in Driver’s Reception). The
card number must be imprinted on the
slip by placing the card under the slips
and rubbing a pen across the top without
using the nib and a signature obtained.
NB. Do not forget to include the
handling charge of 12.5%. HAND
WRITTEN CARD NUMBERS WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED.
- The receipt should be kept in a
dark place for a period of six (6)
months following the transaction date as
you may be asked to produce it in the
event of a query. Any credit card that
is manually entered through the terminal
and queried will not be paid.
