Lydia

Hello there…
We have enjoyed a great start to the year, it is certainly is busy out there! 2004/5 was certainly a very exciting year for Dial-a-Cab, securing many accounts, some of them very large ones that have pushed up our turnover quite significantly. Our excellent service has helped maintain our position inside those accounts for the longer term.
Our technology continues to lead the field, however, having that advantage will not last forever, therefore I would ask that we wholeheartedly support the Society by delivering the best that we can, all of the time.
I was really disappointed when reading Tom Whitbread’s
December article in Call Sign  that informed us of 509 drivers who hadn’t done at least 40 trips.
I do understand that some of

those drivers have personal situations, but it begs me to ask the others - why are you on the circuit? If it is just for the mapping facility, then Halfords are doing a great deal on a SatNav unit at the moment for under a £100.
You don't often find me being controversial, however, the Sales team at BH make certain commitments to our customers and in an increasingly competitive marketplace, I believe we should be able to honour them. If all our drivers did at least 40 trips, we would not experience service issues on any level.
I believe that this year will continue to be busy and with new accounts coming on board, I would like to appeal to you all to support all radio work. Let’s not have any service failures and leave that to our competitors! As we continue to win more business, there will be some fabulous customers coming on-board, so watch this space...
Having just returned from a trip to see my dad out in Mexico, we stopped off and saw my sister in LA. We drove around California  for a few days and stumbled across Cameron’s Bar. I had to
pull over as it described itself as a "Great British Pub." My partner is an avid Bitter drinker and after the onslaught of tasteless bottled beer, it was like an oasis for him!  As we pulled into the car park, we saw a London taxi and double decker bus. As smoking is no longer permitted in public places in California, the bus had been converted into a smoker’s room!
We were warmly welcomed by Cameron who was delighted to learn that we were Brits and that I worked for a Taxi company, although - as I told him - our vehicles are in much better condition than his. The rust had truly set in!
With London recently celebrating the Chinese Year of the Dog, I was curious to look up the definition of dog: The answer? Faithful, honest and ready to serve others. What better way to approach our business in 2006 and our attitude to each other, than adopting this definition…

Until next time...
