Recent visitors to Dial-a-Cab’s Roman Way depot will
have noticed the reduced body 'profile' of our Welsh radio engineer,
Steve Thomas. Steve used to weigh a whopping 19 stone (266lbs), his
stomach silhouette resembling close similarity to that of Alfred
Hitchcock with a waist measurement of a rather rotund 41 inches. His lifestyle consisted of a nightly round of drinking, buying '4-packs' on his way home from work and then joining friends in his local hostelry to consume 12 or more pints. And that was during the working week! Then at the weekend on the former rugby player’s own admission, his consumption rose to the point where, as he told Call Sign, he couldn't even remember how many pints he'd got through before finishing off with a curry and then getting a cab home! Mind you, he did grin whilst telling that to us! However, this life style changed earlier last year when the fluid-based LighterLife diet swept through Dial-a-Cab, inspiring many members of staff and subscribers alike to shed pounds. From February until June last year, Steve followed the LighterLife diet, steadily losing |

weight - including the first week when he lost
a staggering 16lbs! From then on, the flesh diminished rapidly and with the flab still falling off, that's how Steve wants it to stay… off! His great incentive came when Wales beat England in the 6-Nations Rugby Internationals. From that day on and throughout the entire series, Steve followed the games without a beer. Such was his resolve to maintain his new shape that he celebrated Wales' Grand Slam victory with just mineral water! For a Welsh rugby fanatic, that must have indeed been a test of Steve's determination to succeed… |
"Yes," said Steve firmly, "my
waist is now just 32inches!" His eyes were glinting with the
pride of his achievement. "Nowadays I go to the gym 3 times a
week and only down the occasional beer, not every night like
before," he said. "And it's saving me a lot of money," he added, "I only spend £30 or £40 a week now instead of around £100 or so as before!" Call Sign will of course be keeping tabs on Steve's progress over the coming months, so watch this space… © Call Sign Magazine MM6 |
