Photographed with Brian Rice at the DaC European
Championship, this would turn out to be Donna's last
competitive shoot
Former Dial-a-Cab telephonist, Donna Merry, recently
confirmed to Call Sign that she has fired her last shot.
The former World Champion also held the DaC-sponsored European
Championship in addition to the British title and many
others. Although she revealed a year ago that her love for
shooting had diminished, she now tells us that she has
severed all links with the sport that she was so much in
love with, by selling her rifle.
"It had to come," said Donna, "I could no longer raise the
enthusiasm and dedication that you need to succeed at
shooting. I delayed selling my rifle in case it came back,
but it never did and now with lots of new young shooters
making their mark, it would be too late anyway.
"I’d like to thank Call Sign for sponsoring me over the past five
years and especially Brian Rice who always turned up at
those events to present the prizes." |
On 17 August, Annita Young from Dial-a-Cab’s Sales
Department celebrated her birthday with work colleagues
Lydia and Natalie.
"We went out to lunch - as ladies do - across the road and I downed
a glass of wine! Let no one say that DaC’s Sales Department
doesn’t know how to do things in style," said Annita without
the merest hint of a wine-induced slur! "Oh yes," she added,
"and I was given a lovely bouquet of flowers."
As to the question that men never hide from, Annita admitted to
being "over 45." The blonde grandmother can often be seen in
the Clients Reception 'womaning' the phones and greeting
visitors in her friendly, welcoming style.
As to the question of why Annita has the letter ‘n’ twice in her
name, she enquired why the Editor only had one ‘l’ in Alan.
We know when we’re beat, so we’ll leave it at that with just
a belated happy birthday from all at Call Sign… |
