Dial-a-Cab’s lovely Sales Manager, Lydia Foulkes,
recently completed the NIKE 10K run in aid of Motor
Neurone Disease, collecting well over £1800 for her
efforts. Lydia told Call Sign about her unusual
preparations for the event and about the run itself… "After a recent stop in LA to see my sister, I headed for the sun in Mexico to see Pops and start my so-called training schedule. However, I had a lurgi on my foot, which meant I was limited to yoga and walking but no running – just drinking and partying and a teeny bit of tanning! So when I returned to the UK, I had just three days to go to the big run and I really thought it was going to be mission impossible! But with all the wonderful messages of support, for which I want to say thank you, I felt armed to take on the NIKE 10K challenge… My Nike Nocturnal buddy was called Fee, who works at The FSA. She arrived in London on Sunday afternoon and prepared for the race. We ate chocolate and nuts and just talked race strategy. Suffice to say we were both VERY nervous, neither of us having undertaken a challenge like this before. We arrived at the race in good time and headed for the warm-up, which was the biggest aerobics |

class I have ever been to! It was all
totally overwhelming and of |
we were suddenly over Tower Bridge
and had hit 7k then 8K and 9k. But boy was that last
kilometre hard. I told myself to give it my best
shot and just to take one step at a time and just a
little faster! So I did, but misjudged where the finish line was and had to really push myself hard to get over the line. But I was just so elated to cross it. On a personal level, the finish was very emotional for me. The fact that I was raising money for Motor Neurone, the illness that took my mum, and the fact I had completed a huge personal challenge in just over 1 hour was amazing. It’s also wonderful to report that I have raised over £1800 and I really want to thank everyone for their support and for helping me reach a truly special goal." Lydia Foulkes |

THE TAXI SPECIAL CAB WASH! So many Dial-a-Cab drivers have phoned Call Sign to ask if we knew anything about what they have described as the best value cab wash in town, that we asked the manager of the Bubbles Car Care and Valet Centre just what he was offering? And, we have to say that we were impressed…You’ve read so-called ‘advertorials’ in some trade papers that are really paid article-ads. This isn’t an ad and the company aren’t paying Call Sign a penny! Why? Well Call Sign likes to provide a service to its drivers so just listen to what they’re offering and then make up your own mind. Full hand wash and polish plus all the inside – front and back including all the windows, carpets and even the dashboard. It’s known as the Taxi Special and here is why… The total cost – providing you are driving a licensed taxi is just £4.99. I’ll repeat that because from here it looks like a typo! Yes, a complete cab wash for both inside and outside for under a fiver! Bubbles Car Care and Valet Centre have two outlets: The first is at 92 Webber Street, SE1 and the second is at 1 North Wharf Road, Paddington. What began as a special promotion to attract the best cab drivers in the world has now been extended to an unlimited period because of its popularity. So give it a go and let Call Sign know if you think it is great value… |
