Hello Ladies and Gents,
With Christmas now behind us, the workforce in London is getting back to normal and your work is starting to steadily increase. This year’s holiday season was a two-week period, unfortunately for our trade it seems to last longer and longer each year!
However, it was overshadowed by the catastrophe in South East Asia and at times like that, it is hard to put anything into perspective.
As you know, the two large regular locations at Battersea Park and the Bull Ring, Chelsea provided many hundreds of cash trips and both venues were extremely impressed with the way we operated. It was even more gratifying for me to know that we prevented the unlicensed trade from operating any type of pirate service and in fact they probably gave up trying in the end. This work carried into 2005 and already further dates are in the diary throughout the coming months.

Signals
A lot of monitoring and investigation has now been carried out and work is due to start in late January, which we are convinced

will greatly improve the radio signals. Initially the base stations will all be fitted with crystal filters to cut out the radio noise and interference from the many outside sources, such as mobile phones and transmitters which sometimes prevent signals to and from the host computer travelling to your terminals. BT are again working on Channel 6, which has also been the cause for concern and they are making a concerted effort to minimise any trouble at our end. Their technical department have been working to overcome a problem, which unfortunately is solely in their hands. The Board of Management is leaving nothing to chance and every possible avenue is being explored.

Roman Way Upgrades
Roman Way is currently carrying out software upgrades to the terminals. It takes a matter of minutes to complete and apart from the printer update, offers a number of system modifications that will make your daily work a little easier.
A number of you have still not picked up your Xmas present; why not kill two birds with one stone?

Ranking on the Island…
Finally, can I mention that we have had a meeting with the Canary Wharf Management (at their request), who will shortly be implementing much stronger restrictions on parking in the whole of this area. You will read in Keith Cain’s article how we intend to bring Dial-a-Cab in line with these guidelines, while in turn, offer all our members a fair and equal allocation of work which we hope will enhance our service levels to clients.
It is quite flattering that they see Dial-a-Cab as a main player on the Island and have requested our input into the changes that they feel need to be made.
