Credit Cards and Stoozing! How do you regard Credit Card companies? Do you believe they provide a valuable service or do you believe they overcharge and take advantage of their customers? If you’re of the latter persuasion and you’re able to manage your finances, then Stoozing could be for you. Stoozing is the process of making money from Credit Cards and there’s a thriving community dedicating a lot of time and effort to this past-time. But beware; it could be a dangerous activity, especially if you are in credit card debt that you cannot repay. One of the best sites for Stoozing is The Motley Fool located at www.fool.co.uk/ which also has an excellent forum at HERE describing Stoozing. There are two types of Stoozing: 1. Cashback: This is where the credit card provider will pay you a small sum, a Cashback for each purchase using your card, typically 0.25% to 1% of each purchase. Cashback is paid out annually, either by crediting your account or by sending you a cheque. 2. Stoozing: Stoozing is a way of making money by exploiting credit cards that have an introductory period during which no interest is being charged. There is currently fierce competition in the credit card industry with many lenders introducing periods of between 5 and 12 months during which they charge 0% interest on the card balance. This allows the Stoozer to borrow money for free and to move it into a high interest savings account. At the end of the 0% introductory period, the money is withdrawn from the savings account and used to pay off the full credit card balance whilst the interest gained from the savings account is your profit. Another method of making money from Stoozing is to put the borrowed money into a flexible/offset mortgage instead of a savings account. This reduces your mortgage payments, earning you money. |

As you can see, a shrewd Stoozer can
make quite a bit of dosh, although we’re talking
hundreds rather than thousands of pounds. Located at
HERE it is an excellent calculator that will estimate the amount of profit you could possibly make from Stoozing. Go to www.fool.co.uk/cards/tables/compare.htm for Motley Fool’s Credit Comparison web page and for another good web site related to credit cards, go to http://www.creditcardexpert.co.uk/. So, if you’ve the time and can Stooze successfully without getting into debt, give it a try, but be careful. Whilst you’re at The Motley Fool web site, have a look at the other personal finance sections. It’s a great resource for investigating bank accounts, savings, loans, pensions, insurance and ISAs. So before you make any financial decisions check out http://www.fool.co.uk for the Motley Fool. BBC Web Site |
Ex-DaC driver Bob Woodford writes a regular column for Call Sign from his new home at Languedoc in France… CALL SIGN EN LA BELLE FRANCE |
||
I must comment firstly on an article
in last month's Call Sign by Poppy (Back Seat
Driver) who believes that the French are cruel
to animals. You could have fooled me! They certainly
show no cruelty to their pets around here! In fact,
it’s not uncommon to see folk dressed to the nines,
swanning into a restaurant with their pooches, sit
them on their laps to share dinner with instructions
to the waiter to bring their drink to the table -
normally in an ashtray! But make sure you are
sitting at a good distance away to avoid an early
shower! They may be cruel in certain parts of France, of that I have no evidence, but I have my doubts that the French are more or less cruel than the English. But here in Languedoc, animals do all right! I hold no grudge against the mutt that ran up and bit me on the arse when I was out Marathon training |
![]() last summer, mind you he must have thought I was a nutcase running in the midday sun – "mad dogs and Englishmen" and all that! Isn't it nice to have hot sunny days with temperatures in the 70's in mid-March? Oh, you don't have that in 'Livingstone's London' at the minute? I'll leave it a while till I get on the phone to book a cab for a week then! It's the tourist season again down here and our 'guided tours and ‘househunter packages’ are keeping us busy again after a short winter break. Folks on property searches are already booking the villas with pools – it’s |
that warm. I took a lady from the London Borough of Newham on a property search trip last weekend and she bought 3 properties! She told me her divorce settlement "tilted in her favour a bit!" I’ll say…! A few more DaC drivers are coming down here to have a look around and Easter was fully booked up. If you fancy a short break this month (April) or May, give us a shout, the £25 booking fee is waived for readers of Call Sign. Check us out at www.housemartins-herault.com or email info@housemartins-france.com. Or you can call the office on +33 467 363 199. Au revoir for now… Bob Woodford (Ex-P49) |
